Born in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), started with classical piano at the age of 4 at a local music school. At 14 she was accepted as a student of Prof. Ivan Enev, where she learned drumset for 4 years.
After moving to Austria at the age of 18 she continued at the "Gustav Mahler Conservatory of Music" in Vienna with jazz drums and percussion, where she has graduated 'summa cum laude'. After that she continued at the "University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna", where she studied music education and popular music on drums, percussion and piano.
Being an extremely versatile musician allows her to perform continuously with a wide range of artists, and as a permanent member of numerous exciting projects such as e.g. Wiener Tschuschenkapelle, Madame Baheux (winner of the Austrian Music Awards 2014), Pianodrum, Rondo Vienna, Ensemble Flamenca Academia, Katrin Weber Trio, Ensemble Roya, Steve Nick Band, Sedaye Zanan, Loukia Agapiu Band. Maria has collaborated on theater and musical productions for Jeunesse children production Austria, "Kinderfreunde Wien" and "Theater an der Josefstadt".
Furthermore she has worked with many renowned artists such as Hans Salomon, Celia Mara, Marianne Mendt, Christian Brandauer, Erwin Kienast, Tosca, Dunkelbunt, Willi Resetarits, Wladigeroff Brothers, Alp Bora, Adrian Gaspar, Drumatical Theatre, Helmut Zenker - just to name a few.
Maria's style varies from playing subtile grooves in different authentic ethnic rhythmic situations to laying a steady beat on the drumset for more contemporary music styles like electronic as well as pop, rock and funk.
Her professionalism and her ability to support different music styles without loosing her sound distinctiveness makes her one of the most successful and sought-after drums and percussion music artists in Austria.
